1907 Mardi Gras
Arkansas Travelers Convention in Eureka Springs 1907
Following exerpt from the Souvenir Edition for the Ark. Travelers

“Eureka Springs has never had a Mardi Gras, but after seeing one of th Arkansas Travelers full-sheet posters, one may confidently expect something so unique, original, instructing, and amusing, that a real live, full-fledged Mardi Gras would look like a $5 bill after a night’s swing around the circle as compared with it.  This poster is printed in colors, and is a veritable rara avis. These have been well distributed, together with other printed matter, and, no doubt, a large number of people not members of the order, will be in attendance from a distance during the three days.
June 6, 1907:  Formation at 2:p.m. and move out  at 2:30; Grand Dress Parade including Flower Parade.  Assemble on mountain between Thach cottage and end of car line.  Line of march is along car line to Crescent hotel grade, down the grade passing the Kerens chapel and Dr. Floyd’s residence on Spring street, to Basin spring.
The order of parade is as follows:
Chief of Police and aides mounted, Carriages of Officers of Arkansaw Travelers, Band, Military company, Flower Parade, Citizens in vehicles, Band.
June 7, 1907 — 9:30 a.m. — Mardi Gras Parade assembles at junction of Main and Spring streets.
8:00 p.m. — Two Grand Balls — one at the Roof Garden of the Basin Park Hotel, the other at the Crescent Hotel for Travelers and their ladies only.
The Flower Parade on the first day of the festival, and the Mardi Gras parade on the second day, will be features that will afford a great amount of pleasure and amusement.  The masques and costumes promised for the Mardi Gras will add gayety and hilarity to an occasion that should above all else be gay and happy.
